This new 85 meter high "Ijzer" Tower was constructed from 1951 to 1965. The slogan "no more war" was added in four languages.

Some of the sites worth visiting are :

• auditorium : screening of the video film entitled "In Flanders Fields" (duration : 11 minutes) about world war one;
• chapel : with stained glass windows based on Joe English’ drawings;
• peace museum : concentrated on the peace ideals of the front soldiers and the Flemish emancipation struggle;
• the "Gulden Doek" (i.e. golden canvas) : a huge painting by Hendrik Luyten de picting dozens of famous figures from Flemish history;
• panorama room : a view of the former front landscape.
