The
city of Mons is home to several interesting museums. A few highlights : Information : +32 (0)65/ 31.53.43 Internet: www.mundaneum.be Open from tuesday till sunday from 12 a.m. till 6 p.m. (Fridays until 20 p.m) 2. Treasure of the Sainte Waudru Church. In the old chapter room of the church several art objects belonging to the church can be seen : manuscripts, silver and gold work from the 12th until the 19th century, alabaster statues by the famous Renaissance sculptor Jacques Du Broeucq, and, last but not least, the famous "Car d'or" (golden wagon) of the Mons procession. The Museum of Fine Arts. The original museum was built in 1908, and later adapted in 1970 by architect Ernest Vandestrate. The collections represents the different painting, etching and sculpture schools of Mons and the province of Hainaut during the 19th and 20th centuries.
