Following the Maria-Louisakaai, alongside the banks of the river Scheldt, one arrives at the pictoresque church of Our Lady of Pamele. This church is one of the finest representations of the so-called Scheldt Ghotic Style. Architect Arnulf de Binche designed it from 1234 to 1265/68(?) and from 1502 to 1530.  The church has been renovated in 1878-1904. The church  is considered to be the best preserved building in the Scheldt Gothic Style. The typical element of this style is the use of the limestone from the Tournai area, and the octagonal tower above the crossing of the nave. Inside the church artful furniture and paintings can be seen.
